Stainless Steel 304L Instrumentation Tubing is a low-carbon austenitic stainless steel alloy. Its common chemical composition contains Chromium (18–20%), Nickel (8–12%), Carbon (≤0.03%), Manganese (≤2%), Silicon (≤1%), and trace amounts of Phosphorus and Sulfur. Mechanically, it provides superior performance with tensile strength of approximately 485 MPa, yield strength of about 170 MPa, and elongation of 35% minimum. It is also well-toughened and offers corrosion resistance to an extent, particularly to oxidizing acids and chloride environments, and so is extremely durable and also appropriate for high-precision instrumentation systems.
