Stainless Steel 416HT is a martensitic stainless steel alloy primarily made up of chromium (12–14%), along with carbon (up to 0.15%), manganese, silicon, and sulfur (minimum 0.15%) to enhance machinability, plus trace amounts of phosphorus. When heat-treated, it achieves a tensile strength of up to 760 MPa, a yield strength of 450 MPa, and a hardness rating of up to 40 HRC. This alloy offers excellent machinability, moderate resistance to corrosion, and high wear resistance. SS 416HT can be hardened through heat treatment, providing superior mechanical properties compared to non-hardened martensitic grades, making it perfect for structural and mechanical applications.
